For the past few months, my period has been pretty spot on. I would always get it on the 26th and then it would last for about 4 days. Nothing unusual whatsoever. About two months ago, I noticed that I would start getting some cramps for a couple of days and when I researched it online, it said it was most likely ovulation cramps.

Last month is when things got weird. I had sex, had cramps, was two days late, but my period came anyways. No big deal, but I was caught off gaurd with it.

This month, I will most likely be expecting my period on the 28th. Today, after I used the restroom, I noticed some brown (very pale and scarce), slimy discharge and my period isn't due for about a week. I did have sex around my ovulation time, which should have been on or around the 11th (I last had sex on the 9th). This brown slimy discharge hasn't happened to me before. I sometimes I get a little brown discharge the day my period is due, and it quickly follows up with red blood. I think I may have had this problem yesterday...I noticed a little dark spot on my underwear, but didn't think much about it. I read online that it's a sign that your period is about to start, but I NEVER ever had this show up....btw, there is the occasional cramp, but nothing persistent.

I am just so confused because let's just say that I am pregnant, then is this spotting and if so, would it show up around this time? If I am not pregnant, then why could it be showing up and then my period doesn't follow right behind?

I am really confused because it just seems like new stuff is happening and I thought all of this stuff had taken care of itself back when I was a teenager!

Further information....I have no std's or sti's, stress level? Stress is obviously there like most people, but that has never affected my periods in the past...Not a drug user, no eating disorders, no self mutilation...excerise moderately...not a big drinker either...no recent/history of surgeries...have a checkup every few months and never had anything on my health records...

Hope this helps! Any help or links would be great.

Brown discharge is old blood... I think wait until the day your period is due and take a HPT with your early morning urine.

It could just be that your period is getting ready to start. You said that the past few months your periods have been acting kinda weird lately. Your cycle could be lengthening, you could be stressed (I hate when people say that to me, but it is SO true... the slightest thing can mess it up), etc.

The best way to know for sure is just to use an HPT to double check that you're not pregnant, and if I were you, I would make an appointment with your doctor just to make sure everything is good and healthy internally.

I had been having issues with my periods/ovulation and I made an appointment and they discovered that I have PCOS. So make an appointment JUST to be safe and the doctor will definitely be able to help you more than anyone on Yahoo answers... good luck girl. :)

I'm not sure, but exercise, diet, stress, different things can affect your period which can make your period symptoms start earlier. I would personally take a pregnancy test and see. HAving sex on the 9th when you think you ovulate on the 11th, sperm can live in the body for 2-3 days, so you could of likely hit your ovualtion time. The bleeding could possibly be implantation bleeding, take a test and find out!
