Some fertility enhancing medications can give you a false positive...but if you are not taking anything like that I think the only other explanations are that maybe the test is faulty or you are, in fact, pregnant. Take another test using a different brand just for confirmation.

Ya know...I tried convincing myself that the test was wrong and that I must have done it wrong or something. Thankfully, I work with doctors. After laughing at me (lol) they explained how it was extremely rare for the test to be a false positive since it had obviously detected the hcg in my urine. So, congrats to you!

You should make an appointment at your ob/gyn and have the b/w so that you can confirm your pregnancy (for your own sanity) and it can also let you know how far along you are.

Take care of you and your baby and good luck to you!

It's possible, particularly in cases of miscarriage. However, the test is looking for very specific hormones. It is much more likely to give a false negative (tell someone they aren't pregnant when they are) when women test too soon. A false positive is very rare. I'd suggest taking a second test. The statistical odds of two false positives aren't very likely.

not very likely. but unfortunately, it could be a miscarriage if you detect your pregnancy so early. I had a positive pregnancy test but the very next day I start bleeding.
